Our KIDS EAT FREE events and The Weekend BackPack Program, ultimately increase the level of care within families via decreasing the negative effects of stress triggered by food insecurities.

How do I volunteer? Please email us at KidsEatFreeNow@gmail.com, and we will let you know the time and place in advance.


Who is the organization that sponsors this? Soldiers Outreach, Inc. is a group of dedicated individuals who came together to lend a helping hand.


How are children selected for the program? Food administrators identify students who display signs of chronic hunger. Warning signs include asking staff for their lunch, asking other students for their lunch leftovers, unexcused absences, unacceptable behavior, and panhandling at nearby gas stations or convenience stores. Once a child has been identified as “chronically hungry,” a letter is sent home to parents introducing them to the benefits of the program.


What food items are included in the backpack?Individual Oatmeal Packs (no almonds, walnuts, pecans, tree nuts)Individual Chili, Soup, Ravioli in meat sauce, Individual Mac & Cheese Bowls, Individual Fruit (natural syrup) / Applesauce Cups (no sugar)100% Juice Boxes (no Kool-Aid, Hi-C, Sunny-Delight)Individual Spaghetti / Pasta Bowls (no cup/oodles of noodles)Nutri-Grain / Fruit Bars (no peanuts or tree nuts)Individual Cheese Crackers snacks (no peanut butter crackers).
